4am - Memory (Sailor Moon)

Looking back, I find that I first started posting this old Sailor Moon character sketch series here in November 2004. And now, here I am with the second-to-last one nearly two years later. That wouldn’t be half as bad as it is if I were actually still writing it rather than simply re-posting stuff that’s been completed and just hanging around for years. Ah well.

This piece is in reality the very last thing I wrote for the 4am set. And when I say last, I mean last. It was really written some six or eight months after all the other pieces had been both written and posted. And yet, despite the major gap in writing and a slightly different feel to it than the other vignettes, it somehow still manages to fit in.

Series: Sailor Moon
Word Count: 403
Genre: Introspective

Spoilers: Nil

I wouldn’t need to write fanfic for it if I owned Sailor Moon.

It's funny, what you find yourself thinking of just before dawn.

Monday’s Child (Naruto)

Oh goodness, but my writing is blocked right now. Or stalled, as I usually put it, because that’s what it feels more like. Sort of less like beating one’s head on a wall than it’s like trying to get a car to start when there’s nothing but fumes in the tank.

In the end, that means that I dashed this bit of something-or-other off a few nights ago in an attempt to shake something loose. I’m still not sure if it worked for the intended purpose, but ah well at least something got written, ne? (I will say that it’s probably pretty telling that it took me four or five times longer to come up with a title than it did to actually write it.)

Series: Naruto
Characters: Ino
Word Count: 244
Genre: Portrait
Rating: G
Spoilers: There are no spoilers contained here, unless you are unaware of who Ino is. Actually, come to think of it, there’s still no spoilers if you don’t know that either.

I continue to not own Naruto. Yeah, that’s about the shape of it.

The Shape of the Cage (Naruto)

After entirely too much time writing and then weeks of poking, prodding, re-reading, and tense-checking, I hearby declare this story as finished and as ready for the public as it’s going to get.

For some unknown reason, I felt like writing something about Neji and Hinata's interactions during the timeskip, and this is the result. As I wrote the tense decided to settle somewhere itchy, Hanabi somehow got herself personally involved, a pairing I’d never even thought about before snuck in, and the story grew well beyond any of my initial estimates.

In all honesty, the story ended up bearing very little resemblance at all to my original concept and I’ve found I like it much better in this form.

I’ve probably taken some huge liberties with my characterization of Hanabi along the way. But since canon has pretty much next to nothing to say about her there was little choice but to do so. That said, I kind of like the way she ended up so I’m keeping her.

The Hyuuga family speak so incredibly formally, my goodness. Thus, honourifics have been left carefully intact, and what people don’t say is as important as what they do.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Neji, Hinata, Hanabi
Word Count: 6,183
Genre: Drama
Rating: T
Spoilers: This story contains spoilers for the Chuunin Exams arc, and the Valley of the End arc, as well as for post-timeskip Neji, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, and Akamaru.

I continue to not own Naruto, I just play with the characters a bit then put them back.

The world doesn't always change overnight.

4am - Destiny (Sailor Moon)

As far as the Sailor Moon fandom goes, I suppose that 4am is the thing I’m known for, if I’m known at all. That’s an odd thought when it concerns a series that isn’t really a series started sometime around the hour it’s named for in a fit of muse-induced insomnia.

Still, I harbour much affection for my little set of character pieces. Especially since some of them, such as this one, felt while I was writing almost as if the actual character was leaning over my shoulder and whispering in my ear what she wanted to say. I get an overwhelming feeling of rightness about the voice, and for a writer that’s an incredibly good feeling.

Even though the characters do talk to me sometimes, I don't own Sailor Moon.

Oneiroi (Naruto)

Once again, I’ve found myself wandering onto new ground, writing-wise. Last weekend, somewhere near the tail end of a several-day-long writing binge I opened a fresh document and wrote this story, Oneiroi, all in one go straight from beginning to end. I’m still not quite sure where it came from. Nor do I quite know what to think of it.

Honestly, I’ve never written anything like this before, and I’m still coming to terms with being capable of doing so. Not particularly because it's smutty, but because it sort of makes my skin crawl. That said, after a very long internal debate and a lot of dramatic carrying-on about said debate in my personal journal I finally decided to post it, and I’d really like to know what people think of it.

Series: Naruto
Word Count: 777
Genre: Drama
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Nil, but being caught up at least to the timeskip would probably help.
Warnings: Adult content. Heterosexual sex. There's also a possibility that this could be taken as non-con.

I do not, in any way, shape, or form have even the tiniest piece of ownership in Naruto. I only play with it sometimes. Please don’t sue me, I’m obviously crazed.

4am - Image (Sailor Moon)

Today I have decided to continue on in my posting of my much, much older fanfic. And possibly sooner or later I’ll have actually gotten around to posting all of my Sailor Moon character sketch series 4am into this journal. I hope.

This is another of the three original pieces written for the set, before I was even really aware that 4am was becoming an actual series-like thing. Oddly enough, it was also one of the easiest of the series for me to write, despite the insanely late hour and my own extreme tiredness at the time it was produced. Perhaps I should look into doing more sleep-writing.

Genre: Introspective

Nobody's given me Sailor Moon yet, so I still don't own it.

*Untitled* (Naruto, WIP)

This is what basically amounts to the second draft of the first chapter of an idea that smacked me between the eyes recently. However, I’m not sure if I should continue with it. So, I’m putting it up in the hopes of getting some outside opinions on it that could help me make up my mind whether to keep writing it or not.

As far as Naruto canon is concerned, it can be assumed that everything up to and including the timeskip occurred as it did in the manga. After that, I’ve gone into AU territory.

Minor canon information that may be useful for the story (for those not past the chuunin exams in the series). Spoilers are vague enough to be practically nil:

Sound is bad, mmkay?Collapse )

[EDIT:] Edited on 05/11/06 to add intro/teaser.

Series: Naruto
Word Count: 2,002
Genre: Drama
Rating: T
Spoilers: There is a spoiler or two offhandedly contained for the chuunin exams and beyond, but they’re not major ones.

This is me not owning Naruto. Yep.

Sound has fallen, crushed in a final offensive by the village of Konoha. The last few years have been spent in an uneasy almost-peace as the surviving ninja of the Leaf attempt to rebuild their lives.
But there are those who are either unwilling or unable to move on from the final days of the war. And, as enemies begin to stir, it remains to be seen whether it is better to try to forget the past or to drown in it...

So, the muses gave me a chapter title, but not a story title.Collapse )

Because The Commander Is Very Stressed (FAC/Fanboys!)

I'd just like to note that this is all sierralad's fault. For good or evil, he’s the one who deserves the credit. Or the blame.

Yesterday in my journal I asked people (read: my friendslist) to provide me with snippets to create things from. Mainly because I lacked any inspration. And, upon reciving this comment from Servo, I sat down and wrote FAC-fic. Because.

She’s Not Breathing (Naruto)

Ah, Sakura. The one character in the entirety of Naruto that I constantly flip-flop over. I just can’t pin down what I think of her. Which is why I decided to pry into her head a bit. There are flashes, sometimes, of a character I really like, and I wanted to see if I could find her this way. I’m still not sure if I did, or why this title works so well for the piece.

I honestly can't remember anymore if there was any other particular reason why I wrote this piece. It's just something I felt like exploring a little. Somehow, the greatest loves of your younger teenage years never quite go the way anyone expects them to, and I wanted to show that.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Haruno Sakura
Word Count: 384
Genre: Drama/(almost)Romance
Rating: G
Spoilers: While there is mention of events leading into the timeskip, and an assumption based on events after the timeskip there are no real details included.

Don't own Naruto, never will.

Having been struck by the sudden urge to drabble in a fannish way, I reached out and touched a series I haven’t before. Because I honestly like Death Note enough to want to dig my way through the character’s brains a bit.
